Barletta and The Killing Fields

Stop lying through your teeth, Mayor Lou Barletta, by insisting you're trying to "protect" residents of Hazleton, Pa., with your hard stand against illegal immigration.

That's what you've told the national media about the city's Illegal Immigration Relief Act but, the truth is, you're actually involved in a diabolic scheme that will harm and kill the people of Greater Hazleton..

At Hazleton city hall after a federal judge ruled your Act unconstitutional -- which you claimed the City of Hazleton passed "to protect the people" -- you didn't utter a SINGLE WORD about your devious plot that will send many residents to premature graves.

You didn't reveal that you're seriously threatening all of us with agonizing death from a wide variety of chemicals and poisons that cause Cancer, Lupas, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's and Dementia, child birth defects and other deadly diseases.

You didn't mention the caravan of huge, dirty dump trucks that you've allowed to bring in tons upon tons of river dredge sludge, dumping their deadly cargo on the site of the old city landfill where it is documented that multi-millions of tons of hazardous and toxic waste are buried and have turned it into it a toxic hell-hole.

Officials in the Philadelphia area and South Jersey don't want THEIR river dredge sludge from the Delaware River dumped in their backyard because they know it is filled with harmful chemicals including arsenic and PCBs. But you, Mayor Barletta, and your evil cohorts on Hazleton city council have accepted it for disposal here so you can all share in the millions of dollars that will be divided up -- while we pay with our lives.

 

Not only is the highly contaminated river sludge arriving, but still to come are sewer sludge, fly ash, cement and lime kiln dust, and even contaminated construction and demolition material (undoubtedly containing asbestos and heaven knows what other deadly pollutants). And the dumping will continue on a regular basis for at least a decade, probably a lot longer.

Outside city hall, Mr. Mayor, you deliberately neglected to reveal that, just a half-mile from where you stood, you're seriously jeopardizing the health and welfare of everyone living and working in the Hazleton area.

You and your Three Stooges on council -- Joe Yannuzi, Evelyn Graham and Jack Mundie -- have allowed this to happen, as has the city's Redevelopment Authority led by city engineer Bob Dougherty (with the blessing of other deceitful politicians who are higher up the ladder). Your Immigration Act has been nothing more than smoke screen to divert attention from the genocide that YOU have orchestrated.

Mayor Barletta, you never once admitted that the poisons already buried in the city landfill -- OUR BACKYARD -- are the reason Luzerne County ranks among the Top 10 counties in the U.S. for death by cancer. You have not revealed that the Hazleton area is primarily responsible because of other hell holes just short miles from Hazleton such as the McAdoo Associates dump site and the former beryllium plant, etc.

Multiple Sclerosis in the Greater Hazleton may be even worse. Statistics published by The Multiple Sclerosis Society has confirmed that the average number of MS cases in the U.S. is one in 10,000. But here, the average is one case in only 1,000. That's 10 TIMES higher than the national average, and those statistics were compiled a few years ago which means they're probably a whole lot higher now..

So why, Mayor Barletta, are you bringing in additional deadly poisons that will cause even more agonizing pain and suffering to the people of our already contaminated anthracite region communities?

It won't be long before the whites AND Hispanics -- of all ages, especially innocent children -- will be diagnosed with fatal diseases that slowly, painfully and unmercifully eat away their bodies and take their lives. It's BOUND to happen, and you -- along with your legion of conspirators -- are responsible for helping set up this MONUMENTAL DEATH TRAP.

Other political whores are Rep.Todd Eachus, Sen. Raphael Musto, U.S. Sen. Paul Kanjorski and Gov. Ed Rendell. Also responsible are officials of CAN DO (the Hazleton area's industrial development agency), the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Comics, and the propaganda machines at the local radio and TV stations.

Primarily responsible for the cover-up is the new (same as the old) publisher of Hazleton's local newspaper, the Standard-Speaker, now owned and operated by Shamrock Communications of Scranton). The one-sided rag is STILL NOT REPORTING THE TRUTH about the horror that's in store for all of us and our loved ones.

As for Eachus, at first he adamantly opposed the importation of river dredge sludge but then something strange happened. $uddenly he was no longer a critic, and we can only wonder why.

A finger also must be pointed at the local clergy, of all denominations, who certainly are well aware of the serious health crisis but have refused to speak out against it.

Meanwhile, the collusion involved in bringing all the Hispanics to Hazleton as a clever maneuver by CAN DO and others because it provided cheap labor to fill jobs in the devious industries that are here only because of KOZ's. And now we have several Temp Services hiring workers for scab wages, usually under dreadful working conditions and with NO benefits.

It must be noted that the so-called leaders of the Hispanic community are as heartless as you, Mayor Barletta, and the other low-life previously mentioned. They have continued to suppress and exploit their people, meanwhile keeping them ignorant of the hazards they face breathing our polluted air and drinking our water.

Under-educated Latinos have settled in Hazleton, Mr. Mayor, to live and work here. This is somewhat similar to the tactics used by CAN DO over the past few decades, offering not only a job but also a deadly disease because the workers were unaware of the terrible danger they were facing..

CAN DO's "illustrious" founder Dr. Edgar L. Dessen has been particularly responsible for the terrifying health statistics of Greater Hazleton. After all, he was the ring-leader decades ago in bringing in the industries whose poisons now buried in the city landfill or at the site of the former beryllium plant where so many of its former employees have suffered agonizing death..

You, Mr. Mayor, are primarily responsible for this monstrous new health crisis facing us but other "pillars of society" definitely have had a hand in allowing it. The doctors, medical experts and hospital officials, for example, should hang their heads in shame for not speaking out about what's taking place. They have remained silent because more patients mean more MONEY and, besides, why be foolish and jeopardize their vested interests?

Meanwhile, we can't exclude school board members of Hazleton Area and other nearby communities whose political delinquents have totally ignored the future welfare of their students and faculty. Also at fault for not speaking out are the lawyers who usually have lots to say about everything..

You see, Mr. Mayor, the well-being of every Greater Hazleton resident has been placed in tremendous peril because you and others have NO concern about inflicting pain and suffering on your fellow man.

Everyone living and working in the Greater Hazleton area is in imminent danger, and documented health statistics certainly bear this out. And MORE dumping of hazardous and/or toxic waste is only going to make the present situation a whole lot worse.

It's pretty obvious, Mr. Mayor, that you and all of the participants in your heartless crusade are lacking in wisdom, common sense and compassion.

As mayor, you have spoken out of only one side of your mouth. The other side has remained silent about the importation of river dredge sludge and how incredibly dangerous it is -- and how you and others at city hall have helped mastermind a conspiracy against us all.

You don't deserve a third term, Mayor Barletta. You aren't qualified to serve in ANY elective office as a leader..You see, you're nothing but a conniving, money-hungry disgrace to humanity.

You should hang your head in shame!

You should be tarred, feathered and run out of town, and all of the other disgraceful money-hungry bastards should go to hell WHERE THEY BELONG.

Mayor Lou Barletta, you're as despicable a human being as Hitler and his Third Reich.

In fact, you're probably EVEN WORSE.
