The Cancer Cure Con Job
Winning the war on cancer obviously means PREVENTING cancer.
Yet cancer is a multi-billion dollar business.
Therefore, curing cancer would be BAD for business.
Indeed, it would devastate the pharmaceutical and mammography businesses.
These industries have intricate ties to U. S. policy makers, directing research funds to insure their continued profits in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
So WHY should they -- or WHY would they -- push for a cure?
It's time for reform. Congressional leaders are calling for an investigation of the U. S. National Cancer Institute for its indifference to cancer prevention (other than smoking) and for denying the public of its Right-to-Know, and for failing to inform Congress and regulatory agencies.

Dr. Samuel S. Epstein is professor emeritus of environmental and occupational medicine at the School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago, and chairman of the international Cancer Prevention Coalition.
He is an internationally recognized authority on the causes and prevention of cancer and has published some 270 scientific articles and 11 books.
They include the prize-winning The Politics of Cancer (1978), The Safe Shopper's Bible (1995), The Breast Cancer Prevention Program, The Politics of Cancer Revisited (both 1998), Mutagenicity of Pesticides, Hazardous Wastes in America, Cancer in Britain, two editions of "Unreasonable Risk: How to Avoid Cancer From Personal Care and Cosmetic Products".
Dr. Epstein also has published "Cancer Gate -- How to Win the Losing Cancer War" and his latest book, "What's in Your Milk?"
He is also a member of the National Writers Union, AFL-CIO and the National Association of Science Writers.
In 2005, Dr. Epstein received the Albert Schweitzer World Academy of Medicine Golden Grand Medal for Humanitarianism, the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa in Humanities, for his longstanding and pioneering international contributions to cancer prevention.
